Packed and Ready to Go!

Well it has been a long weekend but the majority of the condo is packed up and ready to go:

We are getting a UHaul tomorrow morning and we will load up some essentials. Most of the shop stuff, our bed and clothes as well as some kitchen stuff. This way we can start living there right away and not have to worry about driving home late at night when we are tired from working on the house. We will spend the morning packing the truck with all of this, which is mostly in the living room as you can see. We also have all the tile for the kitchen, all of the blinds, 12 gallons of paint, high gloss sealer for the basement, ceiling fans, lights etc. all ready to go.

We also have a busy week of deliveries ahead. Tomorrow we will get several packages from Grizzly for my table saw, the saw will actually arrive on Tuesday and the dust collection system will be delivered on Wednesday. Also on Tuesday we have the refrigerator, washer and dryer coming. On Thursday the sectional couch will be delivered and on Thursday night my parents will be delivered. And on Friday our daybed will be delivered. Friday we also plan on doing the bulk of the moving. And then we will use Saturday and Sunday to unpack a little and probably do a little more painting.

Going to be a busy week.

Inspection Walk with Warranty Company

So I guess the blog is going to be a little boring for a bit. We had our walk through with the warranty company yesterday and everything went fine. We pointed out the remaining issues and the builder will now be working to address them. For the most part they have already taken care of everything, only very minor things remain, scuff in the drywall, light on paint in some places or paint where there shouldn't be paint. Shouldn't be any big deal to finish it up, probably only a day or two of work remains. We will do another walk through on Thursday afternoon to make sure they are taken care of. After that....well that's it. All done. 15 days to go.

Touch Ups and Cleaning

Today they continued to touch up remaining issues and they also gave the house its first good cleaning in a while. The floors are uncovered and the house is all ready for our inspection tomorrow. It looks really great, take a look:

Its pretty crazy walking around in the house now that its mostly done. It doesn't feel like we should have to wait another 18 days to move in....but we do unfortunately.

I suppose that is a good thing though because even though it all looks perfect in the pictures, we still have a long list of items that need to be taken care off. At least we aren't rushing to meet a deadline and they should be able to get everything done and take their time to do it right.

Oven Install

Today they installed our double wall oven, so now all our appliances (that we are bringing in after closing) are installed:

So as you can see the kitchen is basically 100% done at this point, just missing a fridge. You may also notice there are a couple of extra lights over the island, the electricians were in the house today finishing up some of this work. We will replace these lights with pendants after we move in.

In general the house is basically done. There are only a few minor things to be added and so the construction is pretty much over. Now it is really just fixing imperfections and touching things up here and there and correcting things that were not done exactly as we were wanting.

We should see them start to get the house cleaned up and prepped for closing pretty soon. Our first walk through to address any issues is Friday morning and we have a pretty long list of things we want fixed. After that they will have until next Thursday to take care of them. At that point we will do our final verification walk before closing. So in summary the house is probably 99% done and they will have the bulk of that remaining 1% done by this time next week.

Cooktop, Hood and Dish Washer

Today they installed our dishwasher:

And they also installed our cooktop and range hood:

They also were working on fixing various issues with the drywall today, I assume they will paint those tomorrow. I would show you all pictures but there are probably a couple hundred spots and it just looks like white spackle on white paint....not very interesting lol.

They didn't install our oven today.....not sure why, perhaps the electricians still need to come through and do some work prior to it going in. I would be very surprised if this doesn't happen tomorrow though because our walk through with the warranty company is in about 40 hours....so they got some work to do.

Porch Columns and Final Plumbing

Over the weekend they installed our front columns:

They still need to be painted though.

And today they did final plumbing which is mainly sinks, toilets etc:

It also looks like our construction manager spent a significant amount of time today going through the house in detail and making checklists of what all need to be done or fixed, you will also notice in the pictures that the blue tape is gone. It seems they went through today and fixed a lot of these items, but they have a long way to go:
