And so it begins.....

So today we finally saw some progress on our house. They surveyed and staked the lot!!!! So for the first time we got to see where exactly the boundaries of our house will lie. I tried to take a picture but the stakes are only a few inches above the ground and it is difficult to find them in such a big picture so I drew in lines to kind of connect the dots. The red lines mark the areas where our basement and foundation will sit. The black line is approximately the garage, the basement will not continue below the garage, just a concrete slab here. And the yellow line is more or less our property line.The tall stakes that you see are elevation markers and are for indicating heights of the final grade. Check out the picture below.

I am standing on a mountain of dirt that is currently our back yard. The house directly behind me has a foundation in it already and so I would expect that they would move this dirt out soon. We will have a really nice back, side and front yard with a pretty long driveway as well. We also had our pre-construction meeting (about a month ago....) and we have the city approved site plan so you can compare my drawing above with the more accurate one below In the site plan I am standing pretty close to where is says Lot 179.

As you can see our house sits a little diagonal which is actually what we were hoping for so we are pretty excited about that.

There are currently only two other house left in line before us to start construction. They have also been staked out but have not dug yet. We just learned yesterday though that we are scheduled to dig on the 17th....only 9 more days! Lets hope for no more rain.
