Dig Day 2

They managed to finish digging the hole for the foundation today! Here is a view from the front of the house, you can see KiDahn in the sunroom again.....

This one is from the front right corner of the house:

And this one is from the back:

And a panorama from the west side:

And finally one more from the front. I'm standing in the middle of the cul-de-sac here, I'll try to take a picture from this same spot everyday as well as one from the back to eventually make a day-by-day time lapse of the progress.

And that's it for today. Hopefully we see some footing go in tomorrow.

Inside the hole, Day 1

KiDahn took some photos from down inside the hole because it made you feel like you were in a canyon. We thought you all might like to see them as well.

Dig Day 1

Well it finally happened. They starting digging the hole for our house!!!!!!

They got most of the back half of the house dug today and well as some of the side leading up to the front where the office will sit. KiDahn actually went out to the house today over lunch and took this video of them digging:

She also took several pictures of them digging:

And by the end of the day the hole looked like this:

And here you can see KiDahn standing in the back of the sunroom:

Here is a view from the other side:

And one more from the back, this one is from the second floor window of the house right behind us. I am going to try to take a picture from this spot every day to put together a time lapse:

And that's that! I'll post another in a few minutes of some pictures KiDahn took from down inside the hole. More to come tomorrow!

Mondays the day....I hope

Quick update on the progress out at the house.....there is none. :(

There have been several delays lately, specifically with the last house left in line before us to dig. They ran into some sort of trouble once the started excavating. But as of last night that house finished digging and they tell us we will start on Monday morning!

That is about a week and a half delay from our initial date, but they say that they will be able to make up that time between now and when they start framing. Framing was originally scheduled to start in mid August and they think they will still hit that and we will be back on target.

So....check back on Monday.

And so it begins.....

So today we finally saw some progress on our house. They surveyed and staked the lot!!!! So for the first time we got to see where exactly the boundaries of our house will lie. I tried to take a picture but the stakes are only a few inches above the ground and it is difficult to find them in such a big picture so I drew in lines to kind of connect the dots. The red lines mark the areas where our basement and foundation will sit. The black line is approximately the garage, the basement will not continue below the garage, just a concrete slab here. And the yellow line is more or less our property line. The tall stakes that you see are elevation markers and are for indicating heights of the final grade. Check out the picture below.

I am standing on a mountain of dirt that is currently our back yard. The house directly behind me has a foundation in it already and so I would expect that they would move this dirt out soon. We will have a really nice back, side and front yard with a pretty long driveway as well. We also had our pre-construction meeting (about a month ago....) and we have the city approved site plan so you can compare my drawing above with the more accurate one below In the site plan I am standing pretty close to where is says Lot 179.

As you can see our house sits a little diagonal which is actually what we were hoping for so we are pretty excited about that.

There are currently only two other house left in line before us to start construction. They have also been staked out but have not dug yet. We just learned yesterday though that we are scheduled to dig on the 17th....only 9 more days! Lets hope for no more rain.
